BBB of Chicago and Northern Illinois Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics Award Ceremony & Luncheon

The Better Business Bureau serving Chicago and Northern Illinois is proud to recognize the BBB's most distinguished businesses who will be receiving the BBB Torch Awards for Ethics.

Considered one of the most powerful business brand-building awards, the Torch Awards are only given to about ten businesses annually. They are a beacon to the marketplace, and these companies operate with elite standards for ethics and trust.

The Torch Awards are open to all for-profit Chicago and Northern Illinois-based businesses that have been in operation for three years or more. For younger companies in business for 1-3 years, there is also a Firestarter Award as a part of the Torch contest.

"The Torch Award is the highest honor the Better Business Bureau can present to a company," says Steve J. Bernas, president & CEO of the BBB. "Torch Award winners consistently demonstrate the highest ethical standards toward customers, employees, and the communities in which they do business.”

Businesses are evaluated for ethics and integrity based on four key criteria. The four C’s are how companies emphasize Character, Culture, Customers, and Community. The award can be promoted and showcased for years.

Governor Pritzker promised to think big for Illinois on the campaign trail--and he’s set out to do just that since his inauguration. Kohl’s

According to the U.S. Commerce Department, ecommerce sales reached a new milestone in February, surpassing general merchandise retailer sales for the first time ever. With the rise of online shopping, traditional retailers are in unknown territory: how does a company innovate without losing what customers, and employees, love about the brand? Addressing this issue through technology innovations and strategic alliances with unexpected partners, Kohl’s CEO Michelle Gass is positioning the Wisconsin-based retailer to separate itself as a stand out in a challenging industry.

On June 5th, Kohl’s CEO Michelle Gass joins The Executives’ Club to discuss how companies can innovate while remaining true to their brand DNA. After more than 16 years with Starbucks, Gass joined Kohl’s as Chief Merchandising and Customer Officer, where she played a key role in the company’s strategic transformation, including aggressively moving into Active and Wellness, accelerating digital growth and strengthening Kohl’s position as a leader in loyalty. She was appointed CEO in May of 2018, and is one of only 24 Fortune 500 female CEOs. Join us as Gass discusses how companies can navigate a changing business landscape while remaining loyal to their core strengths and historic values.

And, how can we do it consistently? There’s no doubt that random acts of data-based marketing exist, but which marketers are really building their brands around it and how?

In order to win in today’s marketplace of collapsed CRM channels, rising social DTC brands, and targeted and niche marketing requires systemic organizational change from mindset to operations. Wired to Work; What Neuroscience Can Teach Us About Total Rewards

digangi.png

Presenter
Dr. Julia DiGangi
Founder
NeuroHealth Partners

As the future of work grows increasingly complex, organizations are challenged to develop a total rewards program that engages employees in meaningful ways. Subsequently, there have been many efforts undertaken around issues of pay fairness, transparency, social recognition and employee wellness. However, many of these initiatives fall short because they fail to consider the most fundamental piece of the equation: the human brain. Why people are attracted to their jobs, how long they stay and when they leave are, most essentially, questions of human behavior. This program will focus on what science can tell us about our “wiring” and how these factors affect workplace behaviors such as motivation, performance and relationships. It will provide ready-to-use insights to help industry leaders examine their organization’s goals in the context of what we know about the brain and how it affects performance at work.
